Brand Concept

Founded in Nova Milanese, Italy in 1954 by Aurelio Zanotta, Zanotta is a historic design laboratory that has championed experimental, often provocative furniture since the radical 1960s—producing landmark pieces including the Sacco beanbag chair, the Blow inflatable armchair, and the Joe baseball-glove sofa. The brand embodies the spirit of Italian radical design, treating the domestic interior as a space for cultural and political reflection.

Signature Products

  • Sacco 1968 Designed by Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini, and Franco Teodoro; a leather or fabric bag filled with expanded polystyrene beads that adapts to any body position, widely regarded as the original bean bag chair.
  • Blow 1967 Designed by Jonathan De Pas, Donato D'Urbino, Paolo Lomazzi, and Carla Scolari; the first industrially produced inflatable armchair, a manifesto of pop design and consumer culture critique.
  • Joe 1970 Designed by Jonathan De Pas, Donato D'Urbino, and Paolo Lomazzi; a giant baseball glove-shaped armchair that became one of the most celebrated objects of Italian radical design.
