Founded in Tokyo in 1982 by Teruhiro Yanagihara as a pioneer of the Japanese lifestyle retail concept, IDÉE built its reputation around importing and commissioning contemporary international design while nurturing an original Japanese aesthetic. The brand's eclectic, culture-driven approach—spanning furniture, art, plants, and food—positioned it as a creative hub that shaped modern Japanese interior culture before its acquisition by Muji parent Ryohin Keikaku in 2006.
