Brand Concept

Founded in Merano, Italy in 1962, FLOS was born from a conviction that lighting could change the way people live—combining artistic expression, artisan craftsmanship, and mass-production technology to create objects that transform illumination into an emotional and cultural experience. Working with designers including Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Tobia Scarpa, and Philippe Starck, FLOS treats light as a medium capable of evoking responses that go beyond the merely visual.

Signature Products

  • Arco Floor Lamp 1962 Designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni; a marble-base arc lamp providing overhead light without ceiling installation, inspired by street lighting and now in MoMA's permanent collection.
  • Toio Floor Lamp 1962 Designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni; an industrial-minded floor lamp incorporating a standard automotive headlight reflector, exemplifying the Castiglionis' 'ready-made' design approach.
  • Taccia Table Lamp 1962 Designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni; conceived as an inverted ceiling lamp, its concave aluminum reflector bounces light off a blown-glass diffuser to create soft, indirect illumination.
